Girvan is a small town in South West Scotland, situated in the south of the county of Ayrshire at the mouth of the river that bears the same name. With a population of approx. 7,000 people, Girvan was once a thriving fishing port. The fishing industry however, is now in decline, due to lower E.U. fishing quotas and fish stocks. Industry in Girvan comprises of distilling, chocolate manufacture, light engineering and electronics. Girvan is also still popular as a tourist spot, and is idealy suited for exploring the South of Scotland.

Alas, I no longer live in the town I love so much. I now live in rural Wiltshire, south west of England, some 420 miles away. I will not be able to update this site with photos of Girvan, but I intend to put in some photos of the area where I now live. It's a very scenic area (of course not in the same league as Girvan) but I hope you will like these as much as the photos of Girvan.
